Prayer Request Update

Hi Friends and Family,

It has been confirmed through repeat testing that Mike has Guillain Barre Syndrome. It affects the nerves in his legs, bowels and bladder, but has not traveled elsewhere. That prayer has been answered! The prognosis is full recovery WITH TIME (weeks, months, years?) which is still hard, but comforting, too.

This all began on Sunday, June 8 when he woke up with numbness and weakness in his legs to the point where he could not walk. We had a good experience at Porter Hospital and with Dr. Silberman, then transfered to St. Mary's Hospital in Hobart on Tues. June 24th for their rehabilitation wing. Now, after 3 weeks in all, he can use a walker 150 feet, go up and down 3 stairs, if it has two rails, and stand with the support of one hand on a table for 1 minute, 40 seconds. We do not know how long he will be able to remain at St. Mary's. He will no doubt come home before the "life" returns to his legs. We are currently looking to borrow a wheel chair, walker, tub transport/bench or other disabled equipment. If you have such items to loan, we would appreciate hearing from you. 219-241-0947

Thank you all for your thoughts and especially your prayers. We truly appreciate the greeting cards, plants, balloons, food and restaurant gift cards that have been sent and the offers to help mow if the boys get behind! We are reminded of what special friends and family we are blessed with!

Thank you, all!
Willa and boys~ Ryan, Kevin, John

Wilma's additional comment: Nuppnaus have made family adjustments and had good people help them keep up with their two businesses. You can imagine how this has their world upside-down. Willa has been at Mike's side 24/7 and now she is able to usually sleep at home and get some day breaks when others are available. Please pray for complete healing and their perseverance- as they deal with this long-term health issue! Their address is: 3208 Clairborne Crossing, Valparaiso, IN 46385
